Welcome to the first quarterly Product Showcase event, where we will share all of the recent enhancements and innovations we’ve made to the Codacy DevOps Intelligence platform.

During this past year, Codacy has seen tons of growth from existing customer expansion along with adding lots of new ones. With this growth comes more usage that slows down the platform. We are excited to announce that our dedicated efforts to improve performance over the past few months are already showing massive gains.

We have gone from less than 50% of scans finishing in under 5 minutes to more than 75% of ALL free and paid scans finishing in less than 5 minutes, with 94% of ALL scans finishing in under 15 minutes. Our paid customers are experiencing even faster results since their analysis is prioritized over free customers.

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve been successful in both. In June, 82% of scans finished in less than 15 minutes, and 50% finished in less than five. Since then, we’ve brought those numbers up to 94% and 75%, respectively.

Over the past quarter, our product engineering teams have also made great progress on several new innovations. Here’s a quick rundown of all the amazing work our team has accomplished.

VS Code Extension

We’ve added an extension that connects Codacy seamlessly with popular integrated development environment (IDE) Visual Studio Code (VS Code)

If you want to check your code quality while you’re writing it, you no longer have to leave VS Code; after a PR is done and analysis has completed, developers will be able to find all their Codacy quality and coverage insights are now accessible right within the IDE.

To learn more about the extension and how to use it, check out this blog post.

Pull Request Coverage Diff View

This new pull request (PR) view makes it easier for you to identify which new or updated lines of code are being tested or not.

Every PR now comes with a view that gives you immediate, embedded coverage data for each line of code before committing it.

New Coverage Pipeline with Diff Coverage

We are in the process of separating the Coverage analysis engine from the Quality analysis engine. As a first step in that process, we are now showing the Coverage PR report in real-time. You no longer need to wait for the Code Quality engine to finish to see the results. Our Coverage pipeline now has a new PR report that shows whether your diff coverage is up to standards based on your established quality gate rules.

This new report makes it quick and easy to block merging pull requests until you’re happy with your pull request coverage.

Find Secrets and Get Security Updates on Slack

Today marks a huge milestone for the Codacy Security solution, as we now have the ability to find Secrets within code. In addition, we’ve increased visibility of security issues by sharing them via Slack, and we’ve made some other usability improvements to the Security and Risk Management dashboard.

New Security Innovations

  • Secrets detection using Trivy
  • Slack integration to get alerts about security issues
  • The ability to filter security issues by repository
  • The ability to export CSV reports for security issues

To get a more detailed look at all these new security innovations, check out this blog post.

We presented all these new capabilities and improvements in depth during our recent live Product Showcase.

You can watch the complete presentation recording here if you missed the event.
